It is my considered opinion that the philosophy of DUALISM is fully compatible with most beliefs which center on non-physical realities. Near Death Experiences and Out of Body Experiences imply that there is a non-physical realm of reality. Also, those who believe in the ascension of Yeshua to the right-side of his God (the Father) also need DUALISM as their core philosophy. Dualism is my view of reality as I experience it daily. I would maintain that Dualism is what we all experience as we live our lives in the NOW.
Dualism proposes that there is an objective realm of objects (what we call matter in motion) and also a subjective realm of the mind (which we now call our consciousness). This philosophy was proposed by Rene Descartes back in the 1650's and after. Rene was a French philosopher who proposed that his MIND was separate from his BODY (and all the objects we experience in space/time). This meant that reality is composed of TWO realms or worlds which we all experience in the NOW (as we live our lives).
I have personally witnessed my own OBE (out of body experience) back in the 1970's. This experience gave me my philosophy of Dualism which I espouse today. My experience produced a non-physical separation of my body from my mind (consciousness). I experienced my virtual soul (inner self) as it left my body so I could observe our Milky Way Galaxy and our solar system in movement. Floating in outer space was my perception. I wrote a report of this experience AFTER the OBE. If this was a valid experience, then it means that DUALISM is real/accurate.
I have listened to many NDE (near death experiences) of individuals who claim that their virtual self left their body and floated in space as they remained conscious and aware. This type of experience is similar to my OBE experience. I now sense that the idea of TWO realms of reality is common among millions of people on this planet. We all have probably had similar experiences during our lifetime on this planet. Millions of experiences which involve the MIND and the BODY are presented by witnesses in real-time. Check them out on our internet world.
Also, all religious/spiritual beliefs assume that there is a virtual/non-physical realm of reality. We have some 5 billion individuals (out of 8 billion total on our planet) who experience some type of non-physical realm during their lifetime. This means that the philosophy of DUALISM is real to most people. Our education system likes to promote ideas which espouse MATERIALISM as our only reality. Macro Evolution is based upon 'materialism'. Science is mostly based upon physics (materialism). Most of our neuroscience personnel promote the BRAIN as our final reality. This is another form of 'materialism'. I would maintain that 'materialism' is dead given our current situation.
My experience in Economics supports Dualism as a reality. For example: today our 'dollar' is virtual (it has no tie to a physical item of reality). This implies a 'dualistic' reality for all our virtual/digital currencies. The concept of 'time' is a virtual experience. The concept of 'value' is a virtual experience. Time, Value, and Money are now mostly experienced as non-physical entities. This means that the philosophy of Dualism is reality within Economics. The study of 'consciousness' is our final support for a non-physical realm of reality. All this supports the philosophy of Dualism (two realms of reality).
We need to reject all the ideas which are based upon ONE realm of reality (like materialism and macro evolution derived from a chemical soup of particles). Life can not emerge from matter (impossible). Consciousness can not emerge from matter. I live my life in dual realms and I propose that you do also. Dualism can be envisioned as my MIND being separate from my BODY. My MIND interacts with my BODY via MOTION. It is the motion of atoms and sub-atomic particles which produce this physical realm. But 'motion' is non-physical. I would maintain that my 'consciousness' (mind) creates the 'motion' with our physical realm.
This would imply that the non-physical realm does 'INTERACT' with the physical realm of matter/brain. Descartes did not fully comprehend this reality during his lifetime. He did, however, believe that there was 'interaction' between the non-physical and the physical. Motion/spin/vibration are the realities which create these particles within the realm of MATTER...which then produce physics/chemistry/biology. The realm of objects/particles derives from 'motion' and 'motion' causes the 'interactions' between MIND with BODY. Consciousness activates/interacts with my brain via the 'motion' (that is involved) within this electro-chemical system of my brain/body.
In conclusion, Dualism is what I experience during my lifetime. I would propose that YOU also experience Dualism in all your various experiences. Dualism is an accurate description of reality IMO. We all live within TWO realms and these realms can be evaluated as MIND and BODY. Mind is non-physical and Body is physical. Mind is non-spacial and Body is spacial. Mind is indivisible and Body is divisible. Mind is immaterial and Body is material. Mind initiates/interacts via 'motion' and this produces our physical realm (the body/brain).
Is it time to REJECT the philosophy of materialism/physicalism and the ONE realm concept of reality (often called Monism or Materialism)? The above examples seem supportive of Dualism as our reality in the NOW. Economics is based upon Dualism. NDE and OBE are experiences which depend on Dualism as our reality. Religion and spiritual beliefs assume that Dualism are our reality. Materialism IMO is now DEAD and impotent given the above realities. That is my viewpoint. Think for yourself!
